Structure Failure Ruins Indian National Team’s Asian Cup dream

It’s almost effortless to look at a scorecard and consider that you have the complete story. The national football team was at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, played three games, and went back home without having scored a goal. If one examines the situation closely, it looks like a team going through a bad period from beginning to end.  However, this is just a superficial problem. There are much larger issues behind the scenes than just a few bad days on the pitch. In fact, the aspiration of leaving a mark in Asia wasn’t lost in the 90 minutes of each match, but rather through the systematic long-standing problems within the team’s support. The foundation is brittle and unless the mending is done, no amount of positivity will change the outcome. A Quick Look at the Scoreboard The metrics of the 2023 tourney are crystal clear and tell a tale of despair. The squad was placed in Group B and their adventure turned out to be a total letdown.  The hopes were sky-high since it was the second consecutive time the squad had made it to the tournament, a first in the club’s history. However, the performance did not match the milestone. The results tell a story of being overrun. Match 1: A 2-0 defeat to Australia.  Match 2: A 3-0 defeat to Uzbekistan.  Match 3: A 1-0 defeat to Syria.  Three matches, no goals scored by the team, and six goals conceded. The squad was ranked last in its group with no points. Even though one of those matches had a very good defensive effort in the first half, a few errors after halftime caused the loss. The showing against Uzbekistan was particularly bad, with the team not exhibiting any attacking will at all. More Than Just a Tough Draw Some people would consider the draw a tough one. Both the teams, Australia and Uzbekistan, were of very high quality. However, if one uses the match performances as a yardstick, one can easily see that the problems were not merely due to the quality of the rivals being so high.  Very little if any effective build-up play was observed throughout the game, and at times the defense was quite messy. The situation has the characteristics of the “bad night” only if the excuses of poor preparation and faulty game plan are used. The team not only could not convert but also sometimes looked as if they had no strategy for doing so. The fans’ disillusionment with the team’s performance was not limited to the score only; it was about the whole thing and the style of play the team showed. The supporters, even if through a loss, expected to see something good in the match, but the audience got to see a team that could barely execute the simplest technical moves properly. This is not to say that the players were not trying hard at all; rather it is the whole system out of which these big matches are played that is the problem. The Kheloexch View: A System in Need of a Fix Despite the 2023 tournament, the issues were not over yet. The qualification for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 was another disaster with the team again not having any chance of making it.  It is then that the idea of a “broken structure” becomes impossible to ignore. The campaign was nothing but instability. The team managed to have three different coaches in the eight qualifying matches and, what is even more disappointing, they were not able to win even once. This turnaround of leadership is a clear indication of a system in crisis. Other organizational issues have also been a major factor downplaying the progress of the team. There has been ongoing instability in the domestic leagues that are supposed to develop talent. There have been public disagreements with coaches, creating a poor environment. Confusion over squad selection for important tournaments has also been an issue. A failure to build on past successes, like the promising 1-0 result against Kuwait in November 2023, shows a lack of long-term planning. It is labeling the team unreasonable to expect a consistently high level of performance when the system is still unstable. Not being able to qualify for the 24-team tournament is a very clear proof of these problems that have lingered for a long time.  An individual’s bad performance can be justified. Continuous underperformance, no matter the management or the season, is a sign of a weak structure.  The Kheloexch analysis suggests that the team is lacking the very foundation of their strength, which is indeed very clear. Where Do We Go From Here? By focusing solely on one lost match, the management is taking the simplest route possible. This, in turn, eliminates tough questions. The fact is that the national team is stuck in a cycle of mourning over the loss of the very system that was supposed to be their support. Building a successful national football program is not only a question of time but also a matter of having a stable foundation. It is a matter of a distinct long-term division like:  In the end the health of the football system must be the main concern and no more the short term results.   The players need to be nurtured through a well-established domestic league.   The national confederation is to draw a clear and constant map for the team.  There should be a unity of the coaching staff and tactics throughout. There must be continuity in the coaching staff and strategy. Young talent needs a clear path to the senior squad. The vision of being one of the best in Asia is still there. However, it is going to be just a vision if the attention remains on the players who had a poor night. An entire structure needs to be redesigned with a strong future plan. Without that, the same talk will be repeated in a couple of years.

Greatest Playmakers: 7 Footballers with the Most Assists Ever

Setting up teammates for goals is a skill that often gets less attention than the actual scoring. However, the best Playmakers of all time have been responsible for turning hundreds of chances into unforgettable goals.  Let us see seven Performers who mastered the art of assisting. 1)Ferenc Puskas Takes the Crown Hungarian legend Ferenc was the first Performer in the world to have 404 assists in his entire career of perhaps the most skilled football attackers in history, who scored with astonishing accuracy over 800 times in fact. His left foot was magical and his ability to spot teammates in better positions made him a complete forward.  Playing through the years with clubs like Real Madrid and for the Hungarian national team in the 1950s through 1970s, he added a new dimension to the game by creating goals as much as finishing them. 2)Lionel Messi Chases History Messi with 398 assists scored during his club and national team matches takes second place in the all-time rankings. The Argentine has recently become the highest assist provider in international matches with 60, thus exceeding both Neymar and Landon Donovan’s records. Here’s what makes his numbers special: 192 assists in La Liga alone 18 assists in Copa América history 40 assists in the UEFA tournament for clubs Still adding to his total at Inter Miami Messi’s time at Barcelona saw him link up with Performers like Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar, and Suarez to create some of the most exciting attacking moves ever seen. His balance, timing, and vision turn half-chances into clear opportunities. 3)Pele’s Creative Genius The Brazilian idol marked a total of 369 assists throughout his magnificent career. Nicknamed the “King,” Pele was a ruler of the football scene during the 1950s to the 1970s with his teams Santos, New York Cosmos, and, of course, Brazil.    His skillful connections with fellow Performers such as Garrincha and Tostao were instrumental in Brazil winning three World Cups. Pele was a true innovator, often retracing his steps back to the defense in order to create an attack and thus giving birth to what we now know as the “false nine” role even before it was baptized as such. 4)Johan Cruyff’s Total Approach The Dutch genius was a record of 358 assists and was also a factor in changing the perception of football. Cruyff, who received the Ballon d’Or three times, Performed for Ajax for nine years before moving to Barcelona in 1973 for a record transfer fee.    He was directly involved in 33 goals and provided 28 assists in just 48 games for the national team. Cruyff’s game was such that he showed that with clever movement and quick brains, any defense could be undone. 5)Thomas Muller Keeps Going At 305 assists and counting, Muller earns his spot ahead of bigger names. The German forward created most of his chances at Bayern Munich before moving to MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps.  Even at 36 years old, he’s still producing – six goals and three assists in his first six MLS matches proved he’s not done yet. Bayern fans know him as the club’s all-time leader with 217 assists in his career there. 6)Kevin De Bruyne’s Modern Masterclass The Belgian midfielder has become one of the era’s premier creators. While league-specific data shows 150 assists in major European leagues but 300+ in all time , his overall club career total assist includes 251 assists across all matches. At Manchester City, De Bruyne has: Tied the record for most assists in a single Premier League season Won multiple Performer awards Created 31 assists in the UEFA club tournament His passing range and ability to find forwards in dangerous spots makes him one of the deadliest Performmakers around. 7) Cristiano Ronaldo (GOAT) Leads Where It Matters While Cristiano’s career total sits at 258 assists , his dominance in the UEFA competition for clubs stands above everyone – including Messi. The Portuguese star holds the record with 42 assists in that tournament, one more than Angel Di Maria’s 41 and two ahead of Messi’s 40. Here’s why his numbers there matter: 140 goals plus 42 assists equals 182 total goal actions Most assists in the tournament’s history Performed across three different clubs 183 matches in the competition Ronaldo started his career more as a creator than scorer – he didn’t score in his first 26 matches but already had six assists by then. As he developed into a goal machine, he still kept setting up teammates when they had better chances. The Assist Kings Live On These seven Performers are the best examples of a great attacker who is not only a scorer but also a spectacular team Performer. The ability to create chances was the factor that separated the great performers from the legends, starting from Puskas in the 1950s to the current stars like De Bruyne and Messi.    The thrill generated by a perfect assist is as great as that of any goal even if you are watching on Kheloexch or following the highlights of the major tournaments.   All these Performmakers with their creativity and passing were able to shift the outcome of the games. The number of assists they have achieved tells the story of a thousand and one moments when they picked the perfect pass instead of opting for the selfish shot. That’s what makes them really remarkable.

Tearful Naomi Osaka Battles Injury To Reach Japan Quarter-Finals

Naomi Osaka was an embodiment of determination while she went through a painful left leg issue and became one of the eight matches to compete in the Japan Open.  The first seed was clearly not happy after the match. She was practically in tears and at the same time dealing with such a heavy discomfort that she could hardly walk on the court.  A Hard Fight Against The Previous Champion Osaka met Suzan Lamens, who was defending her title from last year. The match became a real test of endurance and lasted more than two hours.  This is how it happened: Osaka won the first set in a close tiebreak with a score of 7-6 Lamens came back really strong and took the second set 3-6 The third set started wonderfully for Osaka as she raced to a 5-0 lead Then calamity struck as her left leg began to be a real troublemaker The Moment Everything Took A Turn All was going well until Osaka suddenly stopped during a rally while she was leading by a significant margin in the last set. The agony was evident on her face immediately.  She was able to complete that point after Lamens made an error, but it was clear to the audience that something was not right. Medical Help On Court Osaka asked for a medical break right after that scary moment. The medical team came out and worked on her left thigh while she sat there looking worried. When she came back to compete, her leg was wrapped up tight with thick strapping that you couldn’t miss. Her movement wasn’t the same anymore. She couldn’t run around like before and dropped the next two rounds. But she dug deep and closed things out on her third try at match point. Raw Emotion After The Final Point The second Osaka struck her last backhand to end the match, she bent over and covered her face. She was clearly holding back tears as she walked to shake hands at the net. The whole moment was heavy and showed just how much she was dealing with both physically and mentally. What Osaka Said About Her Struggle She made no attempt to conceal the intensity of the situation. After a very brief discussion in the court, Osaka went as far as to say sorry for her conduct. Eventually, she had to interrupt the interview because her leg was giving her so much trouble.   In the continuation of the conversation, she revealed more about what had happened after the match. She confessed to taking analgesics in order to literally overcome the match. Without the pills, it would have been next to impossible to finish the match.   Osaka mentioned her inability to move properly during the match’s closing stages. Nevertheless, she was optimistic and said she usually recovers quickly, thus, it would not be a problem to be ready for her next round. Her First Time Home In Years This tournament was a big deal because Osaka hadn’t participated in a singles match in her home country, Japan, for the past three years. Not only that, but the fact that the championship was hosted in the city with her last name made the experience even more amazing. The competitor, who was very close to the fans there, definitely wanted to make them happy.    Being the top seeded competitor, the 28-year-old finished the match against the Japanese Venus Williams, Wakana Sonobe, without any trouble in the first round. But then came the grueling and painful challenge with Lamens that left her injured. What Came Next? Osaka was supposed to face Jaqueline Cristian from Romania in the last eight. Fans at Kheloexch and other platforms were eager to see if she could keep going despite the problem. Unfortunately, the injury didn’t get better fast enough. She ended up pulling out before the match on Friday. Tournament officials said she hadn’t recovered from the left leg issue that hit her during the Lamens match. This meant Cristian moved on without competing. Looking At Her Recent Form Osaka came into this event ranked 16th around the world. She had some rough results lately: Lost in the second round at the China Open in late September Got knocked out early at the Wuhan Open the week before Made it to her first major semis since 2021 at the US Open earlier this year Owns four Grand Slam titles from earlier in her career Her exit left Leylah Fernandez as the top remaining seed at the event. Fans following coverage on Kheloexch and elsewhere were disappointed to see her tournament end this way. The Heart She Showed Osaka couldn’t complete the whole tournament, but she still managed to show something significant in her confrontation with Lamens. She had the option to cease her participation at the very moment the pain showed up. It would have been no surprise if she surrendered at that instance since everybody was likely to sympathize with her.   On the contrary, she wrapped up her leg and fought on. The very last two rounds were full of her heart. She was not in good enough condition to move, but still, she found a way to be victorious in the match.   The crying at the end was the absolute narrative. She was not doing tennis only. Being in her country, suffering from physical pain, and going through all the emotions made this match one that would be remembered by people.   Osaka’s choice to withdraw from the next contest was a wise one. It is sometimes very hard to decide which is the stronger thing to do in order to move on or to step back; in her case, by stepping back she was going to know exactly when to heal. At the age of 28, she is still the owner of a long tennis career provided that she takes proper care of herself.

Ind & Pak players reconcile at Sultan of Johor Cup after cricket fallout

A very pleasant incident took place at hockey event Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia. After weeks of conflicts and arguments among cricket teams, junior hockey players gave us a great example of good behavior.  What Happened at the Hockey Match? The under-21 hockey teams clashed on Tuesday at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru. Just after both national anthems had been played, something magnificent occurred. Players from both sides began to high-five each other. They had a short conversation and displayed true gentleness before the start of the match.  When the match finished with a score of 3-3, both teams once again shook hands. This was absolutely opposite to what happened a few weeks ago when cricket teams did not shake hands at all and very rudely turned their backs to each other The Cricket Trouble That Started It All Allow us to remind you of the time before this incident. During the Asia Cup tournament in UAE, cricket teams from the two nations were so unfriendly that they completely avoided shaking hands. They met three times during that tournament, and not even once did the players greet each other properly. Here are some key moments from the Asia Cup situation: The cricket team refused all friendly gestures after national songs They would not accept their trophy from Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi The team captain dedicated their victory to families affected by the Pahalgam attack Women cricket teams also followed the same approach during their World Cup match in Sri Lanka The cricket situation got worse when the team refused to take their trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is both the PCB chief and Pakistan’s interior minister. Officials made it clear they could not accept anything from someone they viewed as working against their country. Why Hockey Was Different People wondered if hockey would follow the same path. The Pakistan Hockey Federation actually told their players to be ready for possible snubs. They asked their team to stay calm and just focus on playing well. But something better happened instead. The junior players chose a different path. They showed that young athletes can rise above tensions and just play the game they love. The Match Itself Was Exciting The actual game was pretty amazing to watch. Here’s what went down: Pakistan took an early lead and went up 2-0 The team from the subcontinent fought back hard in the third period Araijeet Singh Hundal scored first to make it 2-1 Sourabh Anand Kushwaha tied things up at 2-2 Manmeet Singh then put his side ahead 3-2 Pakistan refused to give up though. Sufyan Khan scored late to make the final score 3-3. Both sides played their hearts out and showed everyone why hockey is such a great game to watch on platforms like Kheloexch. What People Are Saying The match’s videos and photos spread across all social media platforms. While some people appreciated the players’ mutual respect, others were quite the opposite. However, most of the spectators’ opinions were in unison that it was a nice scene of young athletes acting like professionals. The junior hockey players pretty much conveyed that the match was of higher significance than any issues outside of it. They were ice hockey players, and that was all they had come for. Viewing the Wider Perspective This entire scenario displays an aspect of great importance. The political crises will not necessarily dictate the manners of players towards each other. The junior hockey players’ actions can be viewed as a demonstration of respect amid the adult’s disputes. Kheloexch fans who were following live the match have had the privilege of witnessing not only the top-notch hockey but also the wonderful side of human character. The 3-3 score was so thrilling that it kept the audience in suspense until the very last moment. What Comes Next It is yet unclear whether cricket teams will alter their tactics in the near future. Captain of the India cricket team, Suryakumar Yadav when asked about the upcoming matches stated quite succinctly that they would rather deal with it at the appropriate time. He pointed out that they only face each other in multi-nation tournaments anyway. However, the hockey match at Sultan of Johor Cup gave us another picture. It proved that youngsters can independently choose their path as far as sportsmanship is concerned. They are not compelled to emulate other events’ behavior. Final Thoughts The Sultan of Johor Cup hockey match will go down in history for more than just the 3-3 tie. It will be remembered as the day when junior athletes taught everyone that respect and rivalry can co-exist. When cricket teams were making headlines for staying apart, hockey players were making headlines for being in each other’s company.  For the people who were following the event, it was a reminder that the real essence of competition does not lie in being resentful. Rather, it is in playing hard, being respectful to your opponent, and letting your skills do the talking.

Junior Team Loses 2-4 to Australia in Sultan of Johor Cup

The Indian junior hockey squad encountered its first defeat at the Sultan of Johor Cup by losing 2-4 to Australia in a pool stage match in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium. This was the team’s first defeat after a strong start in the tournament where they scored two wins and one draw in their preceding three games. The captain Rohit was the first one to score in the 22nd minute, whereas Arshdeep Singh scored a goal at the last moment in the 60th minute. But the Australians were unstoppable and they got back with four goals by Oscar Sproule (39th and 42nd minutes), Andrew Patrick (40th minute), and their captain Dylan Downey (51st minute). The First Half in a Nutshell The first quarter held great expectation as the team dominated most of the play after overcoming some early pressure. A very early but crucial save by Prince Deep Singh prevented Australia from getting an early lead. After that incident, the team looked very confident and kept on attacking. The situation improved in the second quarter when they got their first penalty corner in the 17th minute. But Anmol Ekka was not able to convert as his shot went over the post with too much power behind it. But just five minutes later came the breakthrough moment: The team earned another penalty corner in the 22nd minute Captain Rohit stepped up and converted it with a simple low strike This put them ahead 1-0 going into halftime Amir Ali almost made it 2-0 in the 25th minute after a great solo run down the left side, but the Australian keeper managed to keep the shot out. Australia Fought Back Hard In the third quarter, the scenario changed entirely as Australia netted three goals in quick succession that reversed the situation completely. The first one was netted by Oscar Sproule in the 39th minute when his mates set him up perfectly at the far post for a stress-free finish. A minute after that, Australia took the lead when Andrew Patrick capitalized on a deflection from a penalty corner and scored. Then Sproule added to his tally with a 42nd-minute powerful backhand shot that raised the score to 3-1. The fourth quarter saw more woes when Dylan Downey flicked in the fifth penalty corner that Australia won in the 51st minute. The side tried to retaliate with a penalty corner opportunity in the 49th minute, but Rohit’s shot went off target. Late Push Comes Up Short Just a second before the match ended, Arshdeep Singh executed a good deflection that hit the net and got one back for the team. But by that time, it was too late to alter the result. The score at the end was 2-4. After this match, the team was relegated to the second spot on the points table with seven points from four games (two wins, one draw, one loss). Australia climbed to the top with 10 points from 4 matches. You can get more updates and analyses of such games on Khelofun, which brings you all the action straight from the major hockey tournaments happening around the world. What This Means Moving Forward The loss put the team in a situation to regroup very quickly for their next encounter with Malaysia in order to maintain their chances of making it to the final. They had to recover quickly since every point was vital at this moment of the tournament. The team had proved their ability to play at this level by their previous shows but the current match was a little victory for the hockey side who still had weaknesses to overcome. The quick succession of those three goals just demonstrated how quick the hockey match momentum could change. The loss pointed out the criticality of penalty corners conversion since the team had lost some good chances and Australia scored from every chance they got. For the fans who were following the tournament on platforms like Kheloexch, this match served as a clear demonstration of why every moment is so important at this level of the competition.  Team Performance Perspective The early save by Prince Deep Singh that kept the score even was credited to him. The defense was primarily solid in the first half but was eventually broken up during the vital third quarter. The team went on to create chances through the likes of Amir Ali and demonstrated that they were capable of being a threat to Australia’s goal.  After the loss against Malaysia in the last pool match, the team ultimately made it to the final. This was a sign of their ability to bounce back from defeats and their endeavor to claim recognition among the best teams of the tournament by the virtue of their performance.
